Welcome to The Cheesemaker’s House discussion…I can’t believe it’s time to discuss our first ever Online Reading Group selection! We’re a small-ish group but hopefully we’ll keep growing and sharing our love for great books with each other!

To keep this process as simple as possible, I’m going to list a few questions, please feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you’d like in the comments section down below.  I’ll be responding to your comments and will be e-mailing Jane this evening to let her know that our discussion has begun…hopefully, she’ll be able to pop in and answer any questions you may have.

Okay, let’s get chatting!

  1. Who was your favorite character in the book? What was it that drew you to that person?
  2. This book has been labeled part ghost story, part love story.  Which part of the story did you find most intriguing?
  3. Did any part of the story leave you wanting more?
  4. Just for a little context about those in our discussion, what type of books do you normally read?
  5. Finally, any final comments you’d like to add, please feel free!

I look forward to reading your opinions in the comments below, read on for my responses.

  1. Strangely enough, I found myself liking the scenes with Adam.  He was gruff and rough around the edges, but underneath, he seems like a real softie and I found him to be a likeable character.
  2. I was most intrigued by the ghost story element in this book.  The best parts for me came when Alice swore she was seeing Owen…when he was out of town.  I found that to be extremely interesting and made me wonder how this storyline was going to be explained.
  3. I would have liked to learn a little more about the “charmer” aspect to Owen’s life.  Being completely unfamiliar with this before reading the book, a little more background information would have helped me understand it all a bit more.
  4. As far as what books I generally read, I tend to stick mostly to fiction.  I particularly love historical fiction set all over the world.  It’s like a story and a vacation in one book! I’m also a real fan of the classics, with Jane Eyre being my favorite book ever.
  5. I really, really enjoyed this book.  Anytime I find myself sneaking even 2 or 3 minutes to read a particular book, I know I’ve found one that I enjoy!

Thank you to all of you who participated in our first online reading group.  I’ve chosen the next selection and those of you who participate in this discussion will learn the book before everyone else.  (As long as you pinky swear to keep it a secret until the winter issue of the magazine launches!) If you’d like to know the next book, please leave me your e-mail address and I’ll pass that info along to you soon.
